PETER VINE

Peter Vine’s career has encompassed life as a professional marine biologist, commercial fish farmer, freelance author of more than 20 books, and, for the last decade or so managing director of a multimedia publishing company (Trident Press Ltd. http://www.tridentpress.com). His marine research concentrated on the Pacific Ocean, Red Sea and Caribbean . His published papers include work on the Crown of Thorns Starfish, Acanthaster planci and on fish behaviour and coral reef ecology. His interest in mariculture began while working as Scientific Director of a fisheries development project in the Red Sea and later as founder of one of the first commercial sea fish farms in Ireland . Trident Press has published many books on nature and marinelife.
Peter has been sailing for over 50 years. He and his wife Paula presently own a Malo 45 yacht which they keep on a swing mooring next to their home in Connemara , Ireland . With deep interests in both sailing and the marine world, Peter is helping to create an organization that will bring the yachting and marine science communities closer together, harnessing their resources to raise awareness and create a deeper understanding of the issues that affect sea-life and coastal communities.
